The 2011 Geneva Motor show revealed a number of new vehicles that will be hitting the streets in the coming months, and there are several promising models.

While fuel efficiency may have been a common factor a few years ago, the vehicles that were out for view at the show ranged from sports cars to range rovers and even luxury cars. It is apparent that the body of the car is no longer the limitation; and with some cars getting 150 mpg, there is no telling what the coming models will be capable of.

The first car that will be covered is the Nissan ESFLOW. This stylish sports car can seat 2 people and even has the ability to travel 150 miles on a single charge. Pair this mileage with the power to go from 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds, and it is very easy to see why so many people have their eyes on this vehicle. Nissan has also designed the ZOE with Renault. The ZOE has a top speed of about 84 mph and can go from 0 to 60 in 8.1 seconds.

The Vauxhall Ampera also impressed at the Geneva Motor show with zero tailpipe emissions and the ability to be powered completely by electricity for 50 miles. After the battery has run out, the engine will switch to petrol, which will allow the car to continue driving for another 310 miles. The ability to seamlessly switch from electric to petrol while limiting emissions is sure to attract buyers.

The Range Rover Range_e is a city car that emits a tiny 89g/km of CO2, which can be translated into roughly 85 miles. It is the 1st 4WD Range Rover that can accomplish this feat, and has a number of impressive features that let the driver control the car exactly how they see fit.

Volvo showcased the V60 plug in has 285 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 62 in 6.9 seconds. The V60 is an all wheel-drive diesel hybrid, and also offers a driving range of 30 miles with zero emissions. Not to be outdone, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover is also a diesel hybrid, although it does not offer a plug in option like the Volvo.

BMW grabbed everyone’s attention with their Vision ConnectedDrive Roadster. Although the exact specs have not been released, this Roadster works to fuse the driver and car with the surrounding environment for best results. There was also a Mini Rocketman concept car that was revealed to the public for the first time. This small vehicle is capable of getting 94mpg and strives to combine fuel efficiency with comfort and drivability.

The Geneva Motor Show revealed some of the most impressive green vehicles yet, and there are no signs of the industry slowing down. There will surely be many more innovative green vehicles coming in the near future.

The central electricity production from fossil fuels (gas, coal, oil) is globally the largest user of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted into the atmosphere: 41% of the total in 2008. Transportation is the second in the list: 22% in 2008. These are data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), in a recent report further states that global CO2 emissions increased again in 2010 and reached a new record: 30.6 gigatons (GT).

Solutions seem appropriate, therefore, generate electricity with renewable energy (solar, wind, water) and move to electric cars. The two are, but while the first is running for years and already has a significant weight (around 20% of the electricity generated in Spain, for example), the second begins to take its first steps now. While evolving fast.

After a slight decrease in 2009 motivated by the economic crisis, CO2 emissions rose in 2010 another 5% from the previous peak in 2008, which stood at 29.3 gt. At the summit of the UN climate change meeting in Cancun in 2010, world leaders agreed to hold their emissions to try to limit to two degrees centigrade rise in average temperature in the coming decades.

But the goal, rather than complicated, it seems unreal. To reach it, and again with the IEA, they could not overcome the 32 gt in 2020. And this figure implies that over the next 10 years emissions have to grow less than they have done in a single year from 2009 to 2010.

Of the 29.3 gt issued in 2008, the 11.9 generated electricity, transportation, 6.6, and the construction industry, other 5.9. The residential sector, meanwhile, dropped 1.9 Gt of CO2. In transport, road or road of the total generated 4.8 gt 6.6.

For Bo Diczfalusy, director of technology and sustainable energy policies of the IEA, electricity is a problem but a solution: “Electricity is the largest source of CO2 and higher growth, but contains many of the solutions to develop a economy more efficient, less dependent on coal. ”

The production of electricity grew by 55% from 1990 to 2008, and the CO2 associated with their generation, 64.5%. Fossil fuels remain the main raw material to get electricity in the world: 57% of the total resources used, with 41% coal and 16% of natural gas. The good news is that renewable energies are the source of electricity generation that has grown in recent years and is moving towards 15%.

Electric cars, both pure and plug-in hybrids, can also help you burn less fossil fuels and reduce CO2 emissions. Although its sales now are minimal, it is expected that by 2020 the world enroll in some seven million models with this technology. In 2030 the figure should be around 30 million and in 2050, 100 million.

By type of mechanical forecasts indicate that by 2015 will be sold about 0.7 million plug-in hybrids and pure electric half a million. In 2020 will be around 4.7 and 2.5 million respectively, and in 2030, about 24.6 and 9.3 million. Since 2035, hydrogen models also begin to have some presence in the global market. And by 2050, the analysis envision a future in which current models, with petrol and diesel engines, virtually have disappeared. The pure electric and hydrogen cars are common, and will be accompanied by plug-in hybrids, especially gasoline.

The IEA says that to achieve these figures, the electric car still some edges to polish, such as autonomy and higher price compared to a combustion engine vehicle. This cost comes about mainly from batteries. Today, each kWh of battery capacity cost around 600 euros. In 2020, this cost down to about 400 euros. Basically, because they sell more cars now, there will be more batteries and lower cost per unit manufactured.

In 2030, developed countries, electric powered vehicles should have been expanded to involve 15% of the total fleet. In this way, reduce domestic oil demand of 10 to 15%. Although globally, the reduction would be 5%, because the electric car will not reach all countries and estimates only include also light wheeled transport. If all the forecasts, by 2050 electric models will decrease the overall consumption of fossil fuels up to 20%.

Nobuo Tanaka, IEA Executive Director, believes that “the development of the global market for electric vehicles will be a key for the global economy can achieve the goal of halving CO2 emissions by 2050. The combination of electric vehicles powered by clean electricity is an ideal solution. ”

Have you considered about switching to a green electricity tariff or are you interested in what green tariffs are. If so then we will look at these green alternatives that will allow you to be more environmentally responsible with little or no extra cost.

We are always hearing about installing solar panels or micro wind turbines in order to produce our own renewable energy. The only problem is the cost, it can cost many thousands of pounds just to get started and the payback can be many years. So what the solution.

A much quicker and easier way to make a difference is by switching your electricity provider to one that produces electricity from sustainable means such as wind or solar. If you do not want to switch your current provider may have a greener tariff that you can easily switch to.

The current misconception is that it will cost much more to buy green energy from your own supplier or from another company. I am not going to green wash the facts because you can end up paying over the odds if you choose the wrong tariff.

There are however companies that produce truly green power and will match your current electricity costs. They can now do this as the cost of producing renewable energy is slowing falling making it more competitive with coal and gas fired powered stations.

Renewables are classed as green electricity, but unfortunately so is nuclear because it does not produce vast quantities of carbon even though the waste nuclear produces is radioactive and arguably much more dangerous than carbon.

Power generated by other means such as from coal powered and gas powered stations is classed as brown energy. Most of our power is currently from these sources and they are most likely the source of your electricity.

Some so called green tariffs do have some caveats that state they may be topped up with brown electricity when not enough green is available. You can in fact end up paying for a green tariff where you think you are getting most electricity produced by wind turbines but in fact most of the power is generated by coal or gas.

The only way to be sure you are actually making a difference is by choosing one of the smaller green companies that only supply electricity from sustainable sources. Every time they get a new customer you know that they are investing the money in more wind turbines or solar panels. The greater the demand the most that is invested in greener technologies which both bolsters the green economy. Economies of scale means that renewables become more competitive and one day will be cheaper than fossil fuels.

In fact, more than 50% of electricity consumption at home is for air conditioner (AC). At the office, that number had increased to 70%. Meanwhile, a lot of fuel burned to generate electricity.

The solution? By reducing the use of air conditioning. We not only can save money, electricity and extend the life of AC, but also help save energy and care for our world.

We start from the beginning. Actually, do we really need this AC? To cool the room, we can open wide our windows to enjoy the natural air conditioning. Indeed, with the windows wide open, will get fresh air. But if forced to use air conditioning, try to follow the following steps to reduce use of air conditioning.

Select energy-efficient air conditioning.
AC must be able to cool the room quickly. With the size of the evaporator cooler and larger fan, it will cool the room faster naturally and balanced.

Select AC with an environmentally friendly freon.
Freon is a liquid material that produces cold air when the air conditioner is turned on. Select AC with freon-friendly environment, such as freon hydrocarbons.

Determine Capacity AC.
Often, consumers buy air conditioner with a larger capacity than they need, so that inefficient and wasteful of energy. Choose the right air conditioning capacity, with reference to the capacity of about 600 BTU / hr / m2.

Use a timer for AC operation only when needed.
How it feels when you wake up in the morning in the room is super cool? It must be uncomfortable? AC does not need to be used as long as we sleep. Instead, the AC is turned a quarter of an hour before bedtime, and the timer is set for 1-2 hour automatic shut. When the air conditioning off, the room was still cold several hours later. For daytime, try to turn off the unit, if it would leave the room in a relatively long time.

Set the temperature of air-conditioning with thermostat.
For daily activities, set the optimal air temperature from the comfort and energy consumption (no colder than 25 ° C or 3-5 ° C lower than the temperature outside the room). Remember: every 1 ° C increase in temperature can reduce energy consumption by 3-5%.

Clean air conditioner filters, condenser coils and fins on a regular basis, every 3 months.
By maintaining regular air conditioner, you can save electricity up to 20%. Energy consumed by cooling equipment will be lower 10% in the condenser is not exposed to direct sunlight. Disruption of air circulation because of the dust that has accumulated, causing the condenser to consume more electricity.

Replace old air conditioner.
For air conditioning equipment that has been aged more than 10 years, energy consumption will be greater than 30-50% of cooling equipment with new technology.

If you are interested in living a more eco-friendly lifestyle, this is for you. We hope you will find WebEcoist to be pleasantly free of politics and we’ll never tell you to eat granola, hug a tree or vote for the Greens. You don’t even have to switch to tofu. The great thing about modern green living is that there is truly room for every lifestyle – from green consumers to chic eco mamas to tech-obsessed geeks. Modern green living is for people interested in living harder, better, faster, stronger (to paraphase Daft Punk). If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place. Do you view life as an ongoing learning experiment?

Then here’s what you need to do to go green:

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This classic mantra is still the most important one. Next to the crisis of climate change, resources (particularly petroleum, water and food) are getting ever more scarce. We must relearn the “three R’s” – and we’re not talking about grammar school. There are literally thousands of things you can do, large and small, to help the environment. Most of them benefit you in addition to helping the planet. Some are cheap, some are expensive, and many are free. But before you go and purchase carbon offsets or consider a hybrid, first just shift your mindset. Reuse, reduce, recycle – it’s fundamental for anyone who wants to go green.

Getting started: just begin observing your daily habits and purchases. Do you need to throw everything away? Is there something permanent you could use instead of that disposable version? Can you donate, compost, or trade that widget? Once you make the mental shift from a NIMBY (not in my backyard) approach that is wasteful and careless, you’ll be ready for higher-level greening. Ready for more? Read on for the overview. In future posts we’ll bring you detailed breakdowns of everything you need to go green – but this summary will help you know what to expect.

2. Transportation

We’re not only running out of accessible petroleum reserves – the global political climate isn’t exactly friendly to gas prices. If you didn’t worry about the environmental effects before, the cost of filling up the tank has just about everyone looking for ways to save green. Come back soon to find tips for mass transit that doesn’t suck, carpooling that doesn’t kill, and telecommuting that your boss actually goes for. You’ll also learn about the more extreme and wacky tips you might want to try, from hyper-miling to alternative modes of transport. It’ll be good for the planet and your wallet, too.

Getting started: Simply begin exploring your options. If you can purchase a hybrid or more fuel-efficient car, that’s great. Try asking your boss about telecommuting a few days a week, and take advantage of mass transit if you have access in your area.

3. Shopping

Purists may deride “eco products” as nothing more than greenwash or a new marketing opportunity, but consider:

We are consumers and that’s not going to change soon.

Some of the latest and best green innovations are coming from consumer-driven trends. Buying organic jeans is not going to save the planet, but green consumption is helping to “mainstream” green living. Besides, green these days is pretty cool. You won’t believe how hard you can geek out on all kinds of green tech, green gadgets, and green hacks. Think longer battery life. Think a water container that won’t give you cancer, soap that doesn’t dry your skin out and a safer toilet-scrubbing experience. And be sure to let us know what kind of consumables you’re interested in greening. Since many products can be made at home, we’ll also be sharing DIY money-saving tips for many necessities.

Getting started: look for fair trade, organic, and eco-friendly labels or certification on goods you buy. Choose local meat, dairy, and produce when you can. Try not to buy “fast fashion” and needless gadgets that are cheap but will soon fall apart. Invest in quality over quantity. Buy your furnishings and electronics used when you can. Read your favorite magazines and books online instead of choosing print versions. Avoid plastic when a sustainable alternative is available such as wood, metal, fiber or bioplastic.

4. Food

Green grub is not just tofu and organic carrots. Really. In future posts, you’ll learn about the foods you don’t have to buy organic and cheap ways to buy the ones you do. You’ll learn about food miles and whether local is really best. You’ll find out how you can be a green steak lover. Green food should be healthy, cheap, delicious and accessible – and it can be, so stay tuned.

Getting started: for now, start shopping at the farmers’ market for your veggies because they’ll be a lot cheaper and healthier and safer. Eat a vegetarian dinner one day a week. Cut back on the soda, fast food and other overly-packaged and processed junk. You don’t have to do it all at once – try going “100% whole food” one day a week to start.

5. Your Pad

The home is the easiest place to start greening. There are literally hundreds of relatively easy home hacks – many free and most inexpensive. (Note that we will be providing in-depth guides to you super DIY’ers out there who want to get extreme. Bookmark this page and check back in the future for updated links to new posts.)

Getting started: you can switch dead light bulbs with CFLs, buy a programmable thermostat, toughen up a little and adjust your heat and A/C by two degrees of comfort, buy a compost bucket, and give up disposables like paper plates and paper towels. You can also use eco-friendly detergent, carpet cleaner, soap, plant fertilizer, pet food…it goes on and on! Many of these things you can make yourself for pennies. Which helps to offset the cost of that LED plasma.

6. Lifestyle

This ties into Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, but goes a little deeper. Is your laundry green? What about your workplace? Are you greening your travel? What gifts can you give at holidays that aren’t going to hurt the environment (without annoying your friends and family)? Look for upcoing lifestyle guides that go beyond generic clichés and address green solutions for every kind of lifestyle. So you have an SUV and there’s no way you can trade it in for what they’re offering – no problem. You can still be green. Maybe you are addicted to the latest gadgets, or you’re a die-hard designer shoe girl. Maybe you refuse to give up your burgers. That’s O.K. – there is a green way of doing things for every lifestyle. No challenge is impossible to solve with creativity, investigation, and a little bit of humor. If you think that’s too ambitious, you’re probably not in the right place. But if you are excited by new, innovative ideas and solutions with a positive point of view, stick around.

Getting started: Get out a notebook and write down the following: how often you travel; how often you dine out; how many family members/dependents you have; how far you drive to work; where you shop for your food, clothing, household products and electronics. This will give you a pretty good idea of your lifestyle. You should also figure out your carbon footprint. Don’t worry; no changes to make yet. Simply take stock of how you live so you can make smart changes down the road.

7. Habits

This is a bit different from lifestyle; the lifestyles people lead – based on family size, location, profession and so on – are diverse. But habits are more about the daily actions we take, often without thinking. You will find helpful tips, hacks and tricks in the future to live a little greener without too much stress. Sane green living is the goal. Whether it is turning off your lights or saving water, check back weekly for new tips.

Getting started: like “reduce, reuse, recycle”, simply make it a goal to consciously think about your habits this week. Do you order take-out or do you shop at the farmers’ market and prep your veggies for fast meals during the week? Do you shop at stores that use sweat shop labor to produce their goods, or do you look for products that are either fair-trade certified or made in the U.S.A.? Do you buy heavily processed junk food on a regular basis or do you try to avoid it? What cleaning products are you using? Simply start thinking about your habits. There are so many habits where, with slight modification, you can quickly reduce your carbon footprint.

Of course, this is simply an overview of the areas where you “green up”. You might want to bookmark this post and come back for links to more in-depth articles in the future.

According to experts, yes it is. In fact, it is one of the three main areas of bioenergy.

But what is bioenergy? Well, it is a process by which organic material such as animal waste, plants and wood are used to generate electricity, produce heat and also aid in the production of biofuels.

In the case of biomass, hot air or water is generated to produce electricity. This is done through direct combustion and is considered the simplest and most common method of generating energy from biomass.

Aside from generating electricity, biomass can be used for hot air production so you can keep a place warm. For this to work, biomass has to be combusted in a furnace where it heats either water or air. Speaking of water, this enables you to have warm water so you can take a shower. In short, biomass in itself can also be used in a small scale as a heating system.

Since you can generate electricity and heat, some people have been able to combine the two which is known as combined heat and power or CHP. Something that many consider to be good as you use one energy source for two purposes.

If you are able to compare the amount of electricity generated between biomass and let’s say solar energy, you will notice that biomass produces more because the energy in plants is already captured and stored.

You don’t have to collect it first which is what happens with solar or even wind energy since this is manufactured technology. It is readily available unlike the other two which is totally dependent on the weather.

Another is the fact that you can even use organic waste to product electricity. No other green energy source can do that and by using this extensively, any government can save money because you don’t have to spend money to dispose of the waste and you will no longer depend on foreign oil that much to power your plants.

The downside to biomass is that because you have to burn waste and other organic materials to product power, you add to the pollution which is already in the atmosphere. But this can be offset of course by planting more crops which we know helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

You will also have to shell out a lot of money initially for the costs of labor, the transport of these fuels and how these should be stored.

Biomass uses renewable natural resources which is why it is considered a green energy source. This means that we have an endless supply of it around just like the power of the sun or the wind which flows from the ocean. The challenge is to find suitable land that has a sufficient water supply so these will be able to grow.

This means that in areas where water is not that abundant, you cannot rely on biomass technology to generate power. When that happens, you use other means and one good example given the right geographical location is wave energy which is the process of generating power from the water.

There is a way to generate power without causing harm to the environment. We have the technology and the green energy sources. We just need to muster the willingness to make it happen.

Posts Related to One of The Three Main Areas of Bioenergy

Biomass

Biomass is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms.
This car was taken to the test track in Boxberg Bosch, Germany. After turning on the runway of almost 3000 meters long by 36 hours and 12 minutes, the vehicle was stopped because he ran out the load. He had managed to go the not inconsiderable distance of 1631.5 kilometers without recharging the batteries.

Like being 36 hours without stopping is a daunting task, the test was carried out by four drivers took turns behind the wheel of time Schluckspecht to drive the vehicle at an average speed of 45 km / h, until the battery kit Lithium cobalt of 23 kWh out of power.

The electric model has a very aerodynamic body, with two electric motors mounted on each wheel, and the battery pack is divided into 14 to distribute the weight so ideal. The pilot is in the middle of the car and batteries surrounding it.

Not the first time that this vehicle is traveling considerable distances, and had previously been walking almost 700 km in city traffic in the South-African Solar Challenge.

Is the ever rising cost of fuel burning a hole in your pocket? Are you fed up with paying too much for fuel? You are not alone. Thousands of people like you have been looking for ways to save money and get more MPG by finding out about the HHO gas generator kits.

What are these HHO gas generator kits I hear you ask? Well, HHO gas generator kits are conversion kits which can be used to modify an ordinary gasoline engine to be able to burn a mixture of gasoline and HHO gas, which will in turn give you a much cleaner burning engine, but mostly give you increased MPG. Basically the HHO gas generator kits use water from your tap to add to your gasoline in your tank for improved gas mileage.

The hydrogen generator kits are small enough that you install them under the hood of your vehicle next to the cars engine. The HHO gas is made by using a small reservoir of tap water and using the electricity produced by the car battery. This then goes in to the intake manifold of your car, and is then mixed with your ordinary fuel and fed into your engine in the same way as ordinary gasoline giving you better engine performance which will in turn give you more MPG.

By converting your car to run on hydrogen generators, you are also doing your bit for the environment as it produces less harmful exhaust emissions as it burns much cleaner, resulting in a much cleaner engine. The mixture burns much more efficiently which means that the high carbon build up that would normally get from an ordinary gasoline engine is greatly reduced, so in turn means a much more efficient running engine.

This will of course over a period of time prolong the life of your engine which will also mean less maintenance costs for you. These kits can be used on nearly all vehicles including diesel and is also totally reversible, so if you decide to change your car, the HHO gas generator kit can easily be removed and installed in to your new vehicle.

So just how much will it cost? Well it is not as expensive as you might at first think. All the parts can be bought at local hardware stores or motor factors and fully installed up and running for around $150. What new gas mileage will I expect to see? The new gas mileage will depend a lot on the type of vehicle you drive, a car or a truck, and on the engine size. It also depends on the type of journeys you do, short trips around the town would not be as much as a long distant trip, but you would notice a saving on the amount of fuel you would be burning.

Where can I purchase a HHO gas generator kit? The best place to purchase one of the hydrogen kits is on the internet. There are hundreds available to research, and I have researched many.It gives you a list of the places of which sell the complete kits, or if you are a mechanic, or have the knowledge, you can get complete guides showing you how step by step to make your own quite easily using parts that are easily obtainable, and are reasonably priced, at your local hardware store or motor factors.

So if you are among the hundreds of people looking at ways to make savings on their vehicle running costs and you are interested in buying one of the HHO gas generator kits, or maybe if you are mechanical minded or even just have some basic DIY skills and are looking for an easy to follow step by step guide to show you how you can easily make your own, and get more MPG, then you should do what I did and check out the HHO gas generator kits that are available.
